Servant-Leader Exemplar

Teresa Williams

Executive Director
Spring Street Community Development Corporation

Teresa is a devoted wife, mother and mentor for women. During her career as a Vice President and Manager of a large insurance brokerage firm, she felt the corporate world did not offer enough flexibility for her to focus on the areas of life that she felt were most important, her family. She decided to start her own business in January of 2006 focusing on assisting businesses, particularly women and minority construction contractors, in the field of finance, banking, insurance and surety industries. She worked with various community organizations to assist these firms in obtaining access to lines of credit, affordable insurance, continuity plans, accounting firms and other areas where small businesses have had difficulties.

In 2009, her family relocated to S. Africa as God’s calling said “move and I will provide for you”. Selling all their possessions, mostly giving away, they brought their 4 children, 2 dogs and 23 suitcases to Capetown, SA where they served in economically downtrodden communities through December 0f 2010. This service involved feeding over five-hundred children, providing domestic violence and employment training, soup kitchens, HIV/AIDS testing and awareness, diabetes and many other services.

In November 2010 they were assigned to serve at Bethel A.M.E. Church in Morristown, NJ where she serves as Consultant for the Women’s Missionary Society (WMS), Church School Superintendent, Christian Education Director and Women’s Ministries Facilitator.

Teresa presently serves as the Executive Director of the Spring Street Community Development Corporation (SSCDC) dba Table of Hope, a non-profit organization focused on serving families in the Morris County community. Table of Hope includes a soup kitchen and mobile food pantry, where 20,000 meals were served and over 35,000 families were provided groceries in 2023. The Table of Hope’s SOAR (Student Outreach and Academic Reinforcement) program has a partnership with the Morris School District to provide tutoring in Math and Literacy to fifth grade students. Under SOAR, a College Access Program, Leadership Academy and Summer Bridge program are offered to middle and high school students. Other programs Table of Hope runs include New Life Recovery and Reentry where support services are provided to those suffering from addictions as well as
reentering society from prison.

Teresa holds a Bachelors of Business Administration in Finance degree from Howard University in Washington, DC and a Master of Divinity Degree from Drew Theological School in Madison, NJ. She is married to Rev. Dr. Sidney Williams, Jr. and they are the proud parents of 4 children, Nicole (24), Sarah (22), Hannah Rose (19) and Sidney III (17).
